The final product....finally!!!

Here's the final invite that I am sending out tomorrow (fingers crossed) for my sister-in-law's shower.

After looking at her registry, I noticed the giraffe from the baby's bedding is quite similar to the giraffe from bundled in love. So I swapped out the prego lady from she's all that and added a giraffe. I then got to use my favorite cuttlebug embossing folder, swiss dots, and used the polka dot paper from the river rock DSP.
What's also great is that I found coordinating tableware for the shower itself! I put a picture below, what a cute little giraffe he is too! OK now I'm back to fairy princess invites!!

I'm a stamping fool!!!!

I am in stamping overload right now! I am working on birthday thank you's, shower invites and birthday invites!! My girls' birthdays are less than 3 weeks apart. So I'm knee deep in Tinkerbell, fairy princesses and giraffes!! Hopefully I'll have a chance to break away and make something fun to post!! I'll post the final baby shower invite as soon as I get to the final stages of those.

Entries are coming in for my bundle of blog candy and WOW am I blown away!!! For those of you that haven't entered yet, there's still time and more goodies to be added!!

Challenge card

Quick post before I start on a weekend of yard work!! This is a card I created for papertake's weekly challenge. The sketch was designed by my blogging buddy Katharina, so I figured I'd try it out. I broke into my cutie pie dsp and my stash of pun fun images. The finished size is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4.

Finally Friday!!

It's Friday again and that means another Finally Friday Challenge!!! When I was visiting blogs this week, I noticed a lot of people making really cute gift card holders. Denise had a great tutorial for making one on her blog too.

So for today's challenge....make a gift card holder. Either by using the tutorial on Denise's blog or anything else you can come up with.
For this challenge, I followed Denise's instructions, but I used the "pouch" for a picture not a gift card.

This is the card I am going to use for my daughter's first birthday invitations.---------> I used the textured wild wasabi card stock from last month's promo, and made it into a pocket card. All the details of the party are written on the white card stock in the pocket. I then made a gift card holder from the regal rose card stock and attached it to the front. Instead of a gift card, I mounted her photo on card stock and made a tab usind the round tab punch to pull it out. Here is the gift card pouch open.
<-------------
Have fun with this challenge and link your gift card holder so everyone can take a peek.

Shower Invites A & B

I am working on the invites for my sister-in-law's shower. I am making 20 of them so it's right in that gray area between "I can add a layer here or an embellishment there since there's not too many" and "keep it simple there are only 24 stampin hours in a day"

It's going to be interesting to see what it looks like on the blog (my layout "softens" my pics). It looks a lot different IRL, this poor pregnant lady looks bright orange!!! She's really cute IRL. Anyway let's call this "my starting point" since I can't send out this poor orange woman and I'll use it as a little tutorial on how to make something that isn't your favorite look better.

**Tip Alert** Whenever I am planning something like an invitation that I know I am going to fiddle around with a few times before I love it, I make a template. When I am adhering the layers of CS together I use a smidge of removable double sided tape on the top of the layer so it pops on and off easily and I can flip it over and still use the backside of the card stock so I am not "wasting" it in my trial and error process.

Here's the new and improved version! Well I kept the original River Rock base but beyond that it's all new!! After looking at the first card for awile I realized, although I love blush blossom, it took over the first card a little. So I replaced it with very vanilla that I emboosed with stylized flowers(cuttlebug). I originally used my corner rounder to soften the main image since its for a girl but I changed my mind and decide to tear the edges instead for softness. I also knew the main image in guava needed to be toned down a bit, so I opted for river rock instead. I still wanted the guava ribbon on the card, but there was too much on the first card. On card B, I just used a smidge of ribbon on the main image. I kept the paper piecing on the purse, since I'm addicted to paper piecing!

I'm still not sure about the "you're invited" oval, but it's coming along......

Cute Card Thursday Entry

Here's my card for Cute card thursday (a challenge blog--check it out it's great and some of my SBS3 sisters are on the DT). I had it ready to post yesterday for rubbadultery Tuesday, but American Idol got in the way!! Boy are those two Davids FANTASTIC!!! Back to the card!
The challenge this week was things with wings. Well this image has 2 "things with wings" and I think she's super sweet! I also used my new cuttlebug embossing folder, swiss dots, on the river rock piece. I then sponged the edges in old olive. (I'm soooo excited to have my swiss dots, now when I visit the blogs of others who already have it, I won't be sad anymore!!) I colored her in using reinkers and a blender pen. Which on this fab paper is so easy!!
To make this card all SU, try using one of the ladies from she's all that in the mini.
Also, keep checking back...later this week I'm going to be adding my first ever BLOG CANDY!!! I'm working out the details now, then it's up for grabs!!

It's Rubbadultery Tuesday

What a great day!!! Not only is the sun out, but my new swiss dots and tiny bubbles cuttlebug folders arrived!!! (I've been wanting swiss dots in particular for a very long time!!)And I had a little while to test them out on a challenge. I used tiny bubbles to create this card for the mojo Monday sketch. It's a 4 1/4 square. I love this little whale from pun fun!! I colored him in with my soft sky reinker and blender pens. I then used my white gel pen for the faux stitching.

Just pretend it's Tuesday!!

Here's my rubbadultry Tuesday card!! This is the sweetest little image(and she's a world trveller too!!). I received it from Denise who got it from Jo. The layout was inspired by Beate's weekend sketch challenge. And the card is for Ink n' rubba's blog candy as well!! I colored her in using ink refills and my blender pens. The white card stock she is on is fabulous for coloring!! The sentiment is from a retired SU set called cute converse. To make this card all Stampin' UP!, you could use the angel from if the halo fits. Or change the colors and use Ahoy matey's pirate!!

Award and more

Well I got this award today from super stamper Denise from Stamping with Denise. Thanks!!! Denise always makes my day because she posts amazing things everyday on her blog so check it out!! I am supposed to give this award to 10 blogs that make my day. Well I blog hop as often as I can and love the blogs I visit. And all of you who visit my blog make my day everyday too. So I don't know as if I can pick 10. So to all of you who "blog hard" this is for you. But I do need to single out one blog, Lauren, at groppi girl. Why??? First because she makes great stuff that's always so fun and inspirational. And second because she posts about Disney a lot which is helping me with my withdrawals!!

Hopefully I'll get a chance to post some rubbadultery today since it's Tuesday. But I haven't stamped yet since my girls and I (are you ready for it??) went OUTSIDE to play today!!! No snow, no hats, no mittens, no boots!!!! And there were birds chirping and I think I got a sun burn on my face!! So if I miss playing with contraband that's OK for today!\

Embossing tutorial #2--craft ink and clear EP

As I mentioned in my previous post, I am posting a set of tutorials to provide people (and myself:)) with a place to quickly refrence which of Stampin' Up!s great products to use when. We are on tutorial #2, which is using craft ink and clear ep to emboss. This technique or method is one of my favorites because with one container of clear ep you can emboss in any of SUs great colors through the use of craft ink. I highly recommend to anyone who loves this method as much as me to get a box of the craft ink spots. Then you instantly can emboss in the 12 colors of your favorite color family!!

I chose to use this large flower image from One of a kind for this technique. I inked it in close to cocoa CRAFT ink and then stamped on soft sky card stock.----------------->
I then covered the image with clear EP.
<----------------------
And followed the same steps as the versmark and EP technique to get my final image.
<--------------------

I love this technique for coloring in images as well. The embossed edge creates a barrier so you have to color within the lines!!! (If only I knew about this when I was in kindergarten!!)

Here is a picture of a card I made using this embossed image. --->
Check back for the next tutorial on using iridescent ice EP and dazzling diamonds glitter.

Embossing tutorial #1--versamark and EP

I hope everyone had a great weekend. My weekend started on Friday with a fantastic workshop for a fun group of gals! While I was there many of them expressed confusion over which great SU products they should use to make their projects sparkle. So I thought I'd post some tutorials here for them and anyone else who needs a quick reference of what glitter, ep or adhesive to use for those WOW results.

I thought I'd start at the beginning with basic embossing then build up to the glitter!

This first image is a stamp, in the case from the set embrace life, inked in versamark and stamped onto groovy guava cardtock.

I then covered the image with gold embossing powder. I did so in my powder pal so I did not get the EP everywhere. This can also be done with white, black, silver, clear or iridescent ice EP all listed on p. 187 of the spring~summer collection.
<-----------
After covering the image, I tapped off the excess powder and used the brush provided with the powder pals to brush it back into my container. After doing so, my flower looked like this ----------->

I then used my heat gun to heat the powder. You are able to see the powder turn from a powder form into being more glossy while heating. When this occurs, move heat gun to another section of the image until complete.
<---------------
The next picture will show the completed card as soon as nap time comes around!!

Oh no not again!!!

Question??? Is it rubbadulery if someone gave you the image??? I didn't even stamp it!! I received this cute as can be Gina K giraffe from my friend and downline Denise. Well I couldn't just leave her there on the paper all uncolored!!! So I had to color her with my WWC and aquapainters, and then I had to put her on some great cardstock and it just turned into a card....(then I added rhinestone brads, because well they're great!!)

Denise had a great idea...she's picking one day to post a non-SU(I know gasp!?!?!) project. Well I couldn't let her do that all alone.
So I started "RUBBADULTERY TUESDAYS." On Tuesdays, I will post projects using some form of non-SU product or tool. 90% will still be SU and I will also offer a product from the SU catalog to do the project 100% with Stampin' Up! products.
To make this card all SU, simply change the giraffe to the chef from Voila. And voila, it's all SU again!!
