Finally Friday Challenge

That's right it's finally Friday again! And what a week it's been! Up here in NH we had the first in the nation primary. For those of you who don't live here, let me give you a little glipse into our week because it's a pretty big deal as far as NH goes. All the presidential candidates were in the state visiting restaurants, including one of my favorites The Backroom in Manchester yum!!, we received flyers from each candidate everyday, and ALL commercials were presidential ads. And now we are just left with signage over all the roads and actual commercials for products!!

So today's challenge is to make a card using the primary colors, red, yellow and blue.

Here's my red, blue and yellow challenge card. It is also my first attempt at a kickstand card! Fun and easy!
Stamps: Embrace life
Cardstock: So Saffron(yellow), Regal Rose(red), Soft Sky(blue) and Whisper white, Prints--soft sky
Ink: Saffron, Regal rose, mellow moss.
Accessories: Rose grosgrain(my 5/8in is on a UPS truck so I used retired 1/4in), light pink organdy(please let SU bring back organdy!!)

Thanks for playing, post a link so everyone can see your projects!

Punch Challenge

My fellow stamper and bloger Denise, had a challenge on her blog to create a card using Stampin Up's punches. So here is my super simple example. This is a trifold card. I used the flannel background stamp in pale plum on the front. Then using the scallop punch, I punched out the scallop shape. On the inside I embossed the stamp from embrace life using choc. chip craft ink and clear EP (oooh embossing for my Friday challenge I hadn't gotten to yet). I watercolored the image with perfect plum and mellow moss reinkers and my aquapainters. I then used both oval punches for the sentiment which I inked in marker so I could "stack" the sentiment. The oval punches are on a dimensional. I used my 1/8 in circle punch to punch holes for my ribbon to go thru, the moss gingham. Finally I used the slit punch to create a flap to keep the card secure. I also added a rhinestone brad, because really what card is complete without one??? I also sponged the inside edge of the scallop punch with perfect plum to soften it a bit. I plan on using this as a make and take at my workshop tomorrow. Now to think of my next make and take.........

The First Finally Friday Challenge of 2008

Well 2008 is here and so is Friday!! Things are starting to get back to normal now after the holidays. And I've started filling in my new calendar with workshop dates for the new year. One thing my hostesses seem to be asking for is embossing. So for today's challenge I decided to "give them what they want"----embossing. Dust off that heat gun, or find it under that last pile of wrapping paper and emboss away!! Post a link here so everyone can see your beautiful finished product.

Thanks for playing!

First post and tutorial of the new year!!!

Here is a card I made for the last finally Friday challenge of 2007. It's a card that made me happy because it is my first acetate and tag star card. I had wanted to try these 2 techniques for quite awhile and finally did!!!

Tutorials......

First..What is an acetate card?? I used a sheet of transparency as my acetate base. It's a little hard to see in the photo, but the card itself is see thru. The basic gray cardstaock is 3 1/2 x 4 the rest of the card is clear plastic. You can stamp on acetate with staz on ink. My white stazon ink is on my first Stampin Up order of the new year so there is not any stamping on this acetate at this time.(next one)

Now the tag star..

I will post a link to great directions on how to make the star base using both tag punches here.

After cutting out my star, I inked the entire image in versamark. I then poured iridescent ice embossing powder on top and heated the star to set the EP. Now the entire star is sparkly!! I then added a square rhinestone brad which allows the star to spin on the card. I did not adhere it to the pomegranate piece.
