Sketch challenge

Here's my card for Beate's weekend sketch challenge. I embossed the flower with silver EP before cutting it out. I also realized I do not have any purple ribbon. So I think I need to get that and some of that gray taffeta, which I think would have worked better on this. So much ribbon so little time......

It's a little hard to see but I used the canvas background on the pale plum in pale plum then added the small flower and three flower images to it also in pale plum. I also used the cutter tool to distress the edges.

Shhhhh.....

Don't tell anyone, but it's a Bella...and she's mine!!! This is winobella on a little book I made using the tutorial on Denise's blog. It's a great way to trade images or whatever.

I also used my cuttlebug to jazz up the river rock strip across the bottom.

OK now I need to make something that's just SU!

Finally Friday challenge!!

So here's a big surprise, IT'S SNOWING!!! It just wouldn't be a Friday without a half foot of snow!!! This week flew by!! I just started at the gym so I'm trying to figure out a schedule. I saved all day today to stamp, but now that it's snowing my babysitter can't make it over. So I'll have to get creative to find some time!!

Today's challenge is to use watercolor wonder crayons on your card/project. I have mine in a strange spot in my office so I don't think of them until after I start coloring a different way. Be sure to link to your blog so we can check it out. I know a lot of you are very talented when it comes to coloring!! So I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Award

I received this award from two great crafters and friends, Denise and Tina(check out their blogs, lots of great projects!!!). It is the Arte Y Pico (Art & More) Award and is given to bloggers who share their art and creativity making their contribution to the blogging world. Thanks ladies!
I love sharing my ideas with everyone and getting creative inspiration from everyone I've "met" while blogging.

The rules!
1. You have to pick five blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and the link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4. Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of Arte y Pico blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5. To show these rules.

Now I have to narrow down my favorite blogs to just 5! I visit so many fantastic blogs everyday so choosing only 5 is going to be difficult. The 5 that come to mind are Colleen, Kathy, Enfys, Maren and Ana. I always find something I've never seen before on their blogs and they always have a kind word to say when they visit me. If you haven't checked out their blogs yet, click over they're all amazing and have very warm and inviting blogs.

One of a kind

I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter!! Here's a card I did for a swap I'm in using one of a kind.

I also used the afternoon tea DSP which I love!! The finished size is 4 1/4 by 4 1/4. I embossed the main image as well as the center of the flower by using chocolate chip craft ink and clear EP.

Stamps:One of a kind. Cardstock and ink: groovy guava, choc chip, soft sky. Accessories: Ticket corner punch, flower ribbon slide, choc chip poly twill, boho flower punch, clear ep.

Weekend Challenge

Here's the card I did for Beate's weekend challenge. I usually don't get to do this challenge until later since I don't stamp/blog on weekends. But I needed a break from eggs. So I just had to sneak away and play! Have a happy Easter everyone!

Stamps: Embrace life. Cardstock and ink: Ruby red, blush blossom, close to cocoa. Accessories: rhinestone brad, dazzling diamonds, sponges, ginger blossom dsp, cuttlebug-stylized flowers.

Finally Friday Challenge!!

Today's challenge is going to be an easy one. Since I'm sure many of you, like me, are doing easter eggs, easter dinner shopping etc. etc.

So today's challenge is to make something for Easter, or a spring, dinner. Either food, chocolate, a place card, a thank you note, a menu card, a centerpiece, whatever. Something that you'll need for Easter.

I'll post mine after the egg-stravaganza (we're doing glitter eggs this year so that should be a treat!!)

One of a kind Swap

Happy Spring!!!! Wooo Hooo!!!!
This card is one I did for an upline/downline swap I'm doing. We are all doing 3 cards from one set. I am doing one of a kind because it is one of my favs from the new catty and the other gals don't have it!!

Have you tried the new chocolate poly-twill ribbon from the mini yet?????? WOW WOW WOW I love it!!! It's smooth and textured at the same time and chocolate!! Perfect!!

I used my scallop punch to create the rover rock "flower." You use the punch to punch out a scallop then use scrap paper to twist it an punch again. I love the look and think it works great with this set. I then used the boho flowers punch to punch out the blue bayou and soft sky flowers. And stuck them all together with a blue rhinestone brad.

This is the first time I've used this color combo and I love it!!

Well I'm off to see the Easter Bunny...

Another kind of invite

I had a few minutes to work on my daughter's 4th birthday invitations today. She wants a Tinkerbell Party this year and cuttlebug has a Tinkerbell embossing folder. So she's excited, I'm excited... And I also found tinkerbell designer paper at my LSS. There are 3 types of glitter on this card sprinkles from the mini, fine cosmo purple, and dazzling diamonds. I punched a circle under TInkerbell's arm to stamp "you're invited." I am having technical difficulties with my scallop punch at the moment so I used flowers from the punch box punch around the circle. NOt sure if I like that better than a scallop or not. This is just a card front. On the back, I used the invitation cuttlebug folder to give guests all the details. And I added a rhinestone brad in the upper corner.

I hope you like babies!!!

I am working on invites for two baby showers(my sister's and my SIL.) I know one is a girl. The other we won't know until April. Here is the first attempt at a shower invite. I love paper piecing and thought a paper pieced purse and headband would be perfect!! Well the headband and purse are A LOT smaller than I thought!!! Good for one card, bad for 30!! I used the cuttlebug folder, stylized flowers on the very vanilla and sponged with River Rock, that may make it to another round!! I like this color combo a lot, not as much as sahara sand and soft sky, but I was originally thinking of using the River Rock DSP. That may show up in another attempt as well!! I am liking this set, she's all that, a lot more than I thought I would!! It's fun and PRECUT which is great!! I cut off the sentiment and put it on the edge of the block so it has even more versatility!! I love using the white gel pen for faux stitching, again good for one, bad for 30!!

Stamps: She's all that, All year Cheer II. Cardstock and Ink, Soft sky, river rock, very vanilla. Accessories: Cuttlebug, sponges, signo white gel pen, antique brad, vanilla taffeta ribbon, soft sky double stitched ribbon, Scallop, tag corner, 1 1/4 & 1 3/8 circle punches. Techniques: paper piecing, sponging.

If you have a shower invite you love, post a link so we can all check it out! I need all the inspiration I can get!

Comments

Hi All

I had a button set wrong on my comments page, so I wasn't allowing everyone to leave comments!! Who knew! Anyway it's fixed!

Did you ever....

Did you ever have a card that just wasn't meant to be???

Well this is mine!! I started this card on Saturday for Beate's weekend challenge sketch. I was very happy to be using my new cuttlebug folder and my new little pompom, both of which I just got on Friday!! But it really wasn't meant to be. I had the hardest time with the sketch. Which is strange because it's very similar to my favorite scrapbook layout.(I have one in every scrapbook I've ever made). Maybe that was the problem who knows!!! Anyway I kept cutting things the wrong size, my barely banana dsp and CS really didn't match. I think my BB CS is from my first pack of cardstock; I rarely use it!! Then my aquapainter wasn't cooperating, neither were my children. SO I finally finish and went to photograph; you guessed it camera was dead!! SO I charged over night and went to post this am then realized I missed Beate's deadline because my computer didn't adjust for Daylight Savings!!!

Needless to say, this will not be this year's Easter card!! If I have a chance I hope to post a more cooperative card later!!

Blog giveaway

Check out my stampin pal Katharina's blog!! She does beautiful work and is giving away some High Hopes stamps oooohh!!!

Finally Friday Challenge!!

If you're anything like me, you have some sort of file or container that you put all your scrap paper in. You figure at some point you'll use them. And your scrap DSP, no matter how small, well that is saved in a special place, because you couldn't bear to throw it out!! That's what I do!!

So the challenge today is to create a card, project or whatever using scraps! The only catch is at least one scrap needs to be DSP!!

Good luck!

This is my card. Everything I had pretty much exactly precut too! This card is on it's way out the door to my MIL who is having surgery today, so I hope it helps to brighten her room!

I used the embrace life stamp set. I stamped the large flower in saffron on the saffron pieces. The DSP is retired spring flowers which I love! The sketch is from SCSs sketch challenge. I used the distressing tool on the edges of the artichoke and main image. I trhink that along with sponging the main image really softened the card. I used crystal effects to add some dazz diamonds to the flowers.

Stamp set: Embrace life CS & ink: Saffron, artichoke, pretty in pink, close to cocoa, mellow moss Accessories: Artichoke grosgrain, vintage brads, sponge, cutter tool kit, aquapainter, spring flowers DSP.

Two challenges, one card!

So I guess it's official, I'm addicted to sketch challenges!! Coming up with a layout I liked has always been the hardest part of stamping for me, so sketches really save me time, so I actually get more accomplished! (It feels almost like cheating a little bit, but in a good way!!) For this card I used the sketch from the mojo monday challenge. And my blogging pal Enfys has a blog candy challenge on her blog to create a black and white card with one accent color! So layout and color combo were taken card of all I had to do was stamp!! And actually I didn't even do that!! This image and the sentiment on the grosgain are both rub-ons from the SAB rub on set!! I used my cuttlebug for the background and then sponged the edges in saffron. I finally stopped hording my square rhinestone brads and used one on top of the knot. My crop-a-dile went right thru the knot and CS without any problems!! I love that thing!!! I used the saffron DSP the swirly one that "matches" the swirls of the cuttlebug folder. Had I read Denise's blog before putting on the sentiment, I would have switched it to "comgratulations"(another rub-on) so I could have included her challenge of creating a wedding card in this card. Oh well, I just have to play more later!!

6x6 Swap

I was in a mega swap over on SCS and did card fronts as well as 6x6 pages. I was blown away by what I received!! Here's a picture of a few of my favotite pages.

Also check out this link to Melanie's blog!! First is has the cutest paper purse on it and second she has blog candy because she made it into the stampin 100.

Also this picture looked a lot better on my computer than it does in this post. Try double clicking it to get a better view:)

You made my day

I was award this award the other day by my downline and friend Denise.! Thanks Denise, you make my day too!!

I know need to award it to people that make my day. First everyone who visits my blog and leaves a comment makes my day!! I'm a SAHM and it's soo nice to have this connection with the outside world!! Especially all the creative stampers I've met thru bloggin'. One in particular is Maren, one of my SBS3 sisters. I love her blog, she does such beautiful work!! But yesterday she really did make my day. I had some blogging time while my little one was napping, so I was checking out all my sisters' blogs and leaving comments about their posts and each time I was about a minute or so behind Maren. For what ever reason I found it quite funny that we were doing the same thing at the same time. She did finish first since I had to stop on her blog so she pulled ahead!!
