Sketch Something....

The new challenge is posted over at Stamp Something. This week it's to sketch something. Our guest designer for the week is Katharina Frei, I'm sure most of you know who she is since she's amazing, but if not check out her blog to see all her sketches, tutorials and unbelieveable work. I think that's the greatest thing about blogging, Katharina lives in Switzerland and we never would have "met" without our blogs!
Anyway the sketch was great, very challenging for me since it contained circles and I'm a rectangle girl:) So I decided to do a scrapbook page to show people who visited the stamp something that that would be great for this challenge too!
This is an 8x8 page. I used my coluzzle for the circles and a carousel note for the scalloped circle.
The rectangle piece of textured blush blossom is fot the title, and the circular blush blossom is for the photo. The guava scalloped circle is for journaling. The river rock and BB circles are on dimensionals. And I did some faux stitching with my white gel pen.
I thought it wwould be a great page for a tropical vacation or wedding. If you have the scallop circle nestabilities you could make everything smaller and turn it into a card. You could add the flower to the circle center like Cindy's card(see design team samples.) Hope you play along, what a fun sketch!!

Amazing..

So I had 15 minutes befor nap time and thought I could either put away a load of laundry or break in my new SU set. Stamping won!! The inspiration for this card comes from Denise's idea for sweet and simple cards. And this one was simple! I used rose red and old olive card stock and markers. I popped the hummingbird up on a dimensional. I also ran a scrap piece of old olive thru my cuttlebug. At the 10 minute mark I was assemblig the card and just had to ink up that large flower in the background. I think I may like it better without them but I was on a clock.

Today's the last day to faux something over at stamp something and win some blog candy.

Faux somethings....

Today is the day for STAMP SOMETHING'S 3rd challenge. This week it is faux somethings. I chose to do two faux things on this card. The first is the faux stitching around the white "baby" square. I did this using my white gel pen. I highly recommend having a white gel pen because it really just gives a great finishing touch!!

My second faux is faux metal. And boy did I make a few faux pas with this technique!! Here's a basic tutorial highlighting my pitfalls.

1. Ink image, in this case the bracelet, in versa mark and keep handy.(By handy I mean near you somewhere easy to find...not, for example, under a piece of card stock where you can't find it!!)
2.Ink cardstock with versamark.(use a piece larger than your image and leave an inch or so you are able to pick it up easily.)
3.Cover versamarked area with metallic embossing powder.(Read above about leaving the inch)
4.Heat with heat gun until hot and glossy.
5. While holding cardstock with HOT EP add more EP(Here's where that cool inch free of EP comes in handy, I hear HOT EP is actually HOT to touch)
6.Heat this second layer of EP and repeat 4 times or so.
7.Then while still HOT, quickly stamp your versamarked stamp onto the heated area. (This is where the easy to find stamp comes in handy as does the cool EP free inch of CS.)
8.Be careful it's a little slippery!
9.Cut out image after it cools, it cracks a bit in heavier areas.

Be sure to check out the rest of the design teams fun faux(s) (not sure of the plural), and try a few out yourself!!
I used welcome little one and all year cheer II from stampin up on this card, both are retired.

Happy Birthday Sketch Challenge

Here is the rubbadulerous card I made for Beate's weekend sketch challenge. It is a birthday card I made for a friend of mine who had her birthday over the weekend. I chose this fun paper since it reminded me of emmybella's hair and sassy style. I tied the small tag on to her gift bag with the sentiment "celebrate" from an old SU set, good times. I also used my cb folder on the pink passion strip. And I used blender pens and reinkers to color in her snazzy outfit! She's ready for a fun night out on the town and I hope the birthday gal had one too (or at least a quiet night to stamp.)

A little something to say thank you...

That is the challenge this week for STAMP SOMETHING, it's a little challenge blog, oh and did I mention I'm on the DT......Thank you is the theme for our second challenge because we are all so thankful to everyone who participated in our last challenge. It was such a fun time to visit new blogs and see what "firsts" everyone came up with last week. I can't wait to check out everyone's thank you's.

Anyway it's been a crazy week so I haven't stamped much so it was great to have a reason to make time and stamp!! However, between sick kiddos, a dead camera battery and digging a hole for a walkway, stamping kept getting pushed back a bit!!

Anyway back to the stamping. My mother-in-law loves to garden; she has a huge garden she plays in everyday. And this year, she gave me 2 small hydrangea(my favorite) to plant in our new yard. So I decided to make her this thank you clear envelope mini brag book. (check out this link for a tutorial) I've already taken photos of the plants to put in the book because unlike my MIL, as much as I'd love to garden, I'm horrible at it. Not sure why really, but I'm very good at the challenge of killing "guaranteed" plants. So I guess that's something... This way at least we can look at the stamped hydrangea.

I used one of my fav color combos-soft sky and sahara sanda with a bit of choc.chip. And of course, I took out the CB swiss dots folder. I colored the image with my wonder crayons and a blender pen for a super soft look.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Here's wishing a Happy Mother's Day to all you stamping moms out there. I hope you're all enjoying a relaxing day of stamping and spending time with your families. I have my fingers crossed for a 15 minute shower without any interruptions!!!
I made this card using Beate's weekend sketch. My base layer is acetate which I decorated with rub-ons. Then I used the fantastic afternoon tea DSP from the occassions mini. Finally, I moved on the the oval part of the sketch, where I realized something.....I need nestabilities!!! And while I'm working on my wish list, I would have loved to put 2 groovy guava brads in the corners. Oh well....
Have a great day everyone!!!

Flowabella.....

I finally had a chance to use my somewhat new flowabella!!! Isn't she cute! I also used my spring flowers punch to punch out some soft sky flower for the base.
The designer paper is a piece I received from my blog candy winnings a few days ago. And speaking of blog candy......be sure to put a post about STAMP SOMETHING on your blog today and leave a comment on the post over there to be entered into tonight's drawing!
I added 3 pearls down the side which hopefully will count as a jewel for cute card Thursday! If not I'll add tiny rhinstones to the center of the flowers!

Details.....6x6 baby girl themed pages (I'm trying to keep most pages using the color combo of river rock, groovy guava, blush blossom and barely banana..if not that's OK), email me at ebailey1000@yahoo.com or leave a comment to this post when finished with "baby page" in the the title and I'll email you my snail addy. Look what I won!!!

A little over a week ago, I voted for my favorite tin on Melanie's blog. Check it out if you haven't before it's fantastic!!! I voted for this cute little tin called a grandparent's survival kit that had crayons and stamped images in it. It was such a clever idea.

Well, it was a contest and I won!!!!! And these are the goodies Melanie sent over!! What's really funny is that I may get to play with them tonight because my daughter is sleeping over her grandparent's!!!
Did you see the card?? Isn't it gorgeous!! And yes that's an acrylic stamp set, perfect for rubbadultery!! You'll be seeing a lot of those papers too they're so bright and cheery, I can't wait to use them!!
Thank you Melanie!!
