Summer in Winter

I hope this week's Stamp Something Challenge brings some sun and warmth this week!! We are stamping projects this week that remind us of summer. The challenge is sponsored by Pink Gem Designs so head on over for your chance to win a free stamp and to see the DT creations.
I found this summery designer paper from K & Company at my LSS. I paired it with kiwi kiss and barely banana. The image is SU from cheers to you. And the clip was a sweet gift from my Friend Jo. I colored in the summery beverage with my copics.

Valentine Challenge Card

Well I hope everyone that joined us for the Whimsy Wednesday release party had as much fun as I did. Congrats to all the winners and hope to see you all again for the next Whimsy Wednesday. This card I did for this week's cute card Thursday challenge which is sponsored by Whimsy Stamps!!! I used the sketch from the double dutch challenge blog. The theme is Valentine's which is perfect since I need to get moving on those. I used my whimsy owl along with some candy lane DSP. I also used a bunch of hodge podge hardware pieces and some red riding hood ribbon. I colored the owl with my copics.

Whimsy Recipe, birthday valentine's and sketch Challenges!!

Hi All

I've started a challenge over on PCP, you can win free whimsy stamps just for playing along. It is open until 1pm ET Thurs 1/29, just post on the whimsy forum for your chance to win. The challenge is a recipe challenge for 1 color + any # of neutrals(here celery + brown and white). Two embellishments(choc. grosgrain ribbon +choc. felt flower). And 8 layers including the base layer. I used my felt flower as a layer and counted my top notes 1/2 pieces as 2 layers total, so there's 8. The paper is SU cutie pie, retired. The sentiment is whimsy as well as the turtle. There are 2 other challenges so be sure to check them out:) Hope to see you there.
ETA: Hello again. Things are in full swing on Whimsy Wednesday. Here's my 2nd card of the night. I made it for Jeanette's sketch challenge and as I was posting realized it fit Denise's valentine challenge as well!! So now anything I'm able to stamp tonight is just for fun!! Hubby's being super fantastic with the girls so I can play!! This is the ski slope paper from SU along with real red cardstock. The hearts are from the SU punch and new set love you much. The :love" sentiment is from an old SU mini set called "love is in the air." I colored the owl with my copics then sponged a baja breeze background. OK back to PCP:)

Sugar Bowl Challenge #2

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends. We just got back from running errands and a had a little while to play with my new Copics. So I decided to color this sugar nellie image which I received from super sweet Tracey(stitchinwitch). THANK YOU so much Tracey, I love them and now I can play in the sugar bowl challenge!!! She was super fun to color and I used her for this week's Sugar Bowl Challenge. This week's challenge was to use 3 pieces of designer paper(2 from SU's hostess kit, 1 from pink pirouette prints) and 3 embellishments (satin ribbon, dew drops, felt flowers and, of course, a sugar nellie image. The colors of the regular cardstock are pink pirouette, kiwi kiss and whisper white. I sponged the background behind the image with baja breeze and cut t out using my circle nesties. I've been tagged by Denise, so I'll include that along with my nest post. Finally, make sure to clear some time Wednesday night for Whimsy Wednesday over on Paper Craft Planet for stamping, freebies and fun!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Something about a recipe

It's Friday, so it's another Stamp Something challenge. This week's challenge features recipes. It can be a food recipe, a recipe for a fun day or whatever. Well I don't really know any food recipes, well any worth sharing anyhow(trust me on this one.) So I decided to make a wedding card. It's based on the Harry Conick Jr. song, "recipe for love" which is the song my hubby and I cut our cake to at our wedding. S0 I thought it worked.
The image is from an old SU set, Happily ever after. I colored the roses in with my copics. The papers are from SU's new candy lane package. I sponged close to cocoa around the edges, added some dew drops and tied some red riding hood ribbon. And after redoing my CB sandwich stack and adding a tan mat, I was easily able to add the scribble swirls from SU. Thanks Denise!! The sentiment is handwritten. Be sure to check out the rest of the team's recipe interpretations, they're awesome!!!

A challenge, an award and an invitation

I unfortunately had to make this card for a friend of mine who recently lost his father. Sympathy cards are always difficulty and a manly card of any kind is never an easy feat. So this is what I came up with. I used urban garden DSP along with basic gray and not quite navy card stock. The image is from SU, inspired by nature. I stamped it in white craft ink then went over it using going gray and bordering blue pastels. I used by new CB folder to do the branches on the gray strips. The sentiment on a window word punchout in baja breeze, is from there she goes. I also used this card as my entry in to this week's Sketch and stash challenge. I also used up the last of my black brads, so I need to add that to my list. Have you checked out the new SU catalog yet? It's online at http://www.stampinup.com/. Feel free to email me with any questions about the catalog:)

Next, I was given this award from the amazingly talented Hanne, a fellow whimsy DT member

The rules of this Award are as follows
1) Post a link of the person who gave you this award.
2) Nominate 5 other people and give a link to their site.
3) Let the people who you have nominated know.
4) Put a logo of the award on your blog.

Thanks so much Hanne!! This is a tough one to pass on since there are so many people that encourage and inspire me each day so to only pick 5!!! So I think I'll pass it along to people who encourage me each week by visiting, creating amazing projects and challenging me to learn new techniques(and buy more stuff:))...
Denise, Jo, Rach, Cammie and Katharina. You ladies are all AMAZING!!!

Finally I'd love to invite you all to join the Whimsy Design Team and I for a fun night next Wednesday Jan.28 over on papercraft planet...more details to follow, just be sure to mark your calendars!!

Back to stamping...

Hope you are all having a great start to the week.
Now that we are home and finally finished laundry, I am back to stamping!! This is the first card I was able to make it is for the Roses on Paper Challenge, the Whiff of Joy challenge and my aunt's 60th birthday tomorrow. The sketch is from roses on paper and the colors of green and purple meet the guidelines for WOJ. I colored Melinda blowing kisses with my copics and then added some stickles to her wings. The DSP is from K&Company. The sentiment is SU from the set short and sweet. I also used the CB folder birds and swirls on the kiwi kiss layer.

Happy Birthday

Here's my Stamp Something card for the Something for a birthday challenge. I used my whimsy moose, love that guy. And I colored him in with Copics, not really feeling my grass coloring abilities yet but oh well. We are on our way home from vacation at this point, although that stinks, I'm looking forward to checking out what y'all have been up to this week! The papers are retired SU, wintergreen and the sentiment is from Whimsy as well.

Welcome Baby

Still in sunny Florida. At this point I'm probably trying to figure out a way to stay down there!!! This is a card I made for my cousin who is due with a baby boy in a few weeks. I love this little Hanglar boy and was just waiting for the right time to use him. My cousin is Norwegian so for some reason it just seemed to be a good match. (I know the image isn't Norwegian but it just seems closer KWIM) I colored him in with Copics. And I sponged a little more mustard over the moon and not quite navy behind the boy. I used my CB just my type border folder to do the little buttons and sponged them with white craft ink. I love those folders!! I also used my new circle nesties(a stocking stuffer from my hubby!!!) love those too!!! The sentiment is from short & sweet from Stampin Up! Be sure to check out the new Stamp Something challenge tomorrow and I'll see you all Monday:)

Spoonful of Sugar Challenge

Hi All
I thought this was an appropriate challenge to post while I am away at Disney World. It's for Spoonful of Sugar. (It's a Mary Poppins reference, just in case:)) The challenge this week was this super fun sketch. I used this Magnolia image I received from a friend and colored her with my copics. I definitely need a few more colors as I keep "dressing" everyone in green!!! Anyway she was great to color and is on wonderful Basic Grey card stock. The rest of the CS is SU's pink pirouette and kiwi kiss. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps. I used a pink paper flower that I received from Jo, thanks Jo!!! Finally I added some faux stitch doodling with my white gel pen and SU cocoa journaler. "See" you all when I come home.

Stamp Nothing!!!!

That's the challenge from Stamp Something this week. Create a card without using stamps. Let me tell you, I struggled with this one!!! I finally came up with this wedding card, mainly because I leave for vacation tomorrow and come home less than 24 hours before the wedding so I really needed to combine some things on the good ol' to do list!! I used berry bliss DSP from SU along with the SU hostess set rub-on. It says best wishes but I could not get it to photo well to save my live! It's much bright IRL. I used the satin red riding hood ribbon, which is so lovely!! I also couldn't help myself I had to use a bunch of circle nesties!!! Finally I added some half backed pearls. Head over to Stamp something to see what the DT gals didn't stamp!!

WHIMSY CANDY WINNER!!!!!!

First I'd love to thank everyone who entered into the drawing for this cute little skunk and sentiments and passed along the info about Whimsy Stamps. I'm so happy for my friend Denise(whimsy Stamps Owner) and her venture and it's nice to help spread the word about her adorable stamps!!!
Second, that saying that you learn somethig new everyday is definitely true. Today I learned.......if you have a blog candy drawing and offer people extra chances have them post again so you don't have to write 100+ names on little sheets of paper that your 1 year old can spread around the house in seconds flat.

So the winner as picked moments ago by my little random red-head is SHartl who said...
Love all the whimsy animals but that little moose just gets to me! Just signed up to follow your blog!

Congrats and please email me with your address and I'll mail these out to you!!!

Keep checking out Whimsy over on PCP for new releases and freebies!!!

Challenge card

Hi All-Quick post today as I have a to do list a mile long, but a lot of fun stuff so I can't complain:) Here's a card I did for the OCC Challenge. My first time doing that one. It was a sketch. I decided to use my new teenage Lizzie with heart stamp and try out my Copics so more(yes, I'm addicted.) I rotated the Sketch to work with the image. And I thought I really loved my pink choice RV10, but it looks a little "highlightery" if you color too heavy, so there's another one to add to the list:) I used pink pirouette and close to cocoa DSP. And the heart is from last year's SAB rub'on's. I do love her boots and would love a pair, they just look so warm! I'll be back later tonight to announce my blog candy winner. There were over 100 entries if you included second chance entries!! SO good luck to everyone who entered, and there's still time:) Also today's the last day to enter the Stamp Something challenge for a chance to join our DT.

Copics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here he is, the first little guy I colored with my new copics. What a great christmas gift from the hubby!!! I'm still figuring out what the heck to do with them and realize 12 is not enough!!! I can color a turtle or a seal, that's about it!! But valentine's is right around the corner! woohoo!!
Anyway. this little guy is from whimsy stamps(be sure to check out my blog candy so you can win his little friend the skunk!). The paper is from K&Company and I love it, it's so thick and has a great texture!! I also did some paper piercing around the striped layer.
I'm using this card for Cute card Thursday's open stamp and for Claire's birthday blog candy. I also used this card as kind of a stretch for the wish on a scrap challenge(it's brand new). It was to create a card based on what you wear. Well I wear a lot of green, blue and gray and in the winter I always wear "turtle" neck sweaters. Finally, this little guy will also make his way over to the Whimsy challenge on paper craft planet which is to use flowers. I used a flower ribbon slide, not too flowery but oh well:)

Sugar Bowl

Here's my entry into the Sugar bowl. It was a fantastic sketch challenge this week. You also have to follow the sweet rules to enter which include following the blog, using a sugar nellie image and only using the card for 1 challenge. It will be my only entry for awhile in their challenges since I had received this super adorable sugar nellie image from a friend and that's it!! I colored her in awhile ago to test out my colored pencils then I realized I didn't really have CS to match her, so this is what I came up with:) It's a 5 1/2in square card, which is large for me but it worked perfectly for the sketch and image. The DSP is retired SU spring flowers with choc. chip and banana CS. I also used some soft subtles brads. Be sure to enter my blog candy draing you have until Jan 8. And pop on over to Rach's blog for some more candy!!
