Something for Christmas!

Happy Friday Everyone!!!!!!  It's time for a Christmas themed Stamp Something Challenge!!!  I used Herb with christmas pudding from Whiff of Joy for my image today.  I used winter wonderland glitter papers from My Mind's eye, which I picked up the day after Christmas last yesr for 75% off and have been excited to use ever since!!!!  I added a big piece of navy satin ribbon along with a felt snowflake, a punched snowflake and some rhinestones.  I also added some fun flock snow under Herb.  I had intended to sew the edge around the image, nut my sewing machine had a different idea, so I went for paper piercing instead.  Be sure to stop by the rest of the SS team to see what Christmas projects they created.  And our sponsor this week is Simon Says, so join along if you can for your chance at a fabby shopping spree!!!
Have a great weekend!

Magnolia Christmas

Hi all!  Afternoon post for you today.  We went blueberry picking this am and it was amazing!  We are, however, almost out of blueberries already.  Oh well, we'll have to go back!
I think I am officially making Christmas cards now.  This one uses this super cute Tilda.  I went with the Eskimo kisses paper from Basic grey and kept it really simple.

Last Karen's Doodle Challenge

This is the last week for the Karen's Doodles US challenge!  I can't believe how fast these past few months have gone!!  After this week, Karen will be combining her different challenge blogs into one, and I can't wait to play along!  I had such a fun time working with Karen's images.
But for this week we are doing a joint challenge with all the other Karen challenge blogs, and they'd like to see white.
You can color in your image, but other than that white, white, white!
I used textured and shimmery white CS, which I ran thru my snowflakes folder on my CB.  I colored Waving Santa with copics and used fun flock for his beard and cuffs.  I did at a bit of silver for some sparkle with stickles and rhinestones, hope that's OK!  Finally I added some felt snowflakes and flowers.
The sentiment is a fav of mine from whimsy stamps.
Hope you have fun with this one!

Sunday Sketch and Stamp

Well it's the last day of a gorgeous weekend here.  Hope you are having a great weekend too!  I have my Sunday Sketch and stamp card for you today.  We have a fabulous sketch today by Arianne.  Our sponsor is Prairie Fairy.  We were given a few of their images to play with.  But my printer ran out of ink, so I went with a Whimsy rubber stamp instead.  It is Crissy Armstrong's new image, Moonlit ride.  I went with baja breeze, gray and white for this one.  The sentiment is Whimsy as well.  I did some stitching, spongind and added lots of Wild orchid flowers.  I rotated the sketch to work with this image as well.   Hope you can join us this week!  Be sure to stop by and see what my teammies have created for you!!

Flowery Challenge

Yay Friday!!!!  Time for a fun Stamp Something challenge!!!  We're all about flowery things this week.  Our sponsor is wild orchid crafts and I'm scared to even link up because I know I'll find something gorgeous I need to have LOL!!!!
I went with some flowery fairy tale papers and of course some WOC flowers!  I also used my much neglected and dare I say forgotten twill tape.  It was just what I needed to finish this card.  I gave my sewing machine another whirl and it seems to be working OK, a few mis steps here and there but oh well.  I added bunches of pearls and distressed the edges with ink and scissors.  The sentiment in from Whimsy Stamps.  I wasn't sure what I was making this card for so the "happy mail" sentiment can really be for anything!
The SS team has really flowered it up, so check them out!!!!

Happy Mail

Hi again everyone!!!  I have a card for you this time!!!  I needed to whip up a thank you card for my sister as we were treated to some fabulous beach pizza last night!!
I wanted to use this adorable WOJ image that I received for my birthday as it hasn't seen much ink so far and I just adore it!
I went with some Eva papers from Basic grey along with razzleberry and pale plum.  I distressed and sewed the edges and colored with copics.
Finally I added some pearls, ribbon, twine and wild orchid flowers.  The ticket sentiment is from Whimsy stamps.  Katharina is hosting a GDT call for Whiff of Joy so I am linking it over there!  Looks like we are about to get a much needed afternoon storm, so I'm shutting down the computer now:)

Karen's Doodles #20

HI everyone!  Hope you had a fabulous weekend!   It was hot and busy here, which pretty much has been the story of this summer!!!!
I have a friend at work who is expecting her first child.  She's at about the halfway point now of her pregnancy so I thought a fun card was in order to let her know I was thinking of her!!!  I went with the image the question from Karen's doodles.
The challenge for Karen's US challenge is a sketch this week, so that worked out perfectly.  The papers are basic grey, green at heart.  And I added some stitching.  I think my sewing machine is officially broken though, so this may be my last stitched card for awhile :(
I also distressed the edges and added some satin ribbon from SU.  Don't forget to check out the rest of the gals and come on and join us if you can this week!

From Bella's blog........
Bella_bandageAt the time of our last entry, Bella had just been re-admitted to Children's Hospital with a bad case of pneumonia. She is still recovering from this bout, but thanks to her strong will combined with the love and support of her family and friends, she has finally been discharged from the ICU and is currently recuperating in the hospital's CCS (Coordinated Care Services).   She has a new team on the CCS floor with whom she is quickly making friends.  At the same time, she still enjoys visits from all of her ICU nurses and her surgical team - Nancy, Janet, David and Carla - also known as "The Blue Team".

On Monday, June 22, she underwent her 9th surgery to remove bone splints that continued to grow after the amputation and to graft skin on her right leg to help close an open wound from the previous surgeries.

She continues to work hard with her Physical Therapy nurses every day and we are seeing daily improvements in her strength as a result of her efforts.  Her PT consists of ten sets of exercises (such as arm lifts or leg lifts) that focus on strength, rotation and flexibility. The nurses created a "prize tree" for her, and every time she completes an exercise, they move a monkey from one tree to the next, and when one tree is full of monkeys, she gets a prize (usually a Silly Band). Because of these exercises, she is now able to sit for longer periods of time while keeping her balance, which is a huge step!

Her recovery has allowed her to play on her new iPad with her brothers, Facebook with friends, take daily trips to the Cafeteria, and feed the birds on a beautiful sunny day with her family in the hospital's garden.

We believe that her "can do" attitude is 100% fueled by the love and support of family, friends and strangers. This past month, several members of her school family visited her, including Principal Boyd, her 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Daily, her future occupational therapist Mrs. Ouellette, her future 4th grade teacher Mrs. Gray,  and the new Assistant Principal Mr. Hurt. She even got a visit from NH Governor John Lynch!  And of course, her sister, brothers and parents have made sure that one of them is always at her side. She knows that we can't wait for her to come home.

We continue to be floored and humbled by the outpouring of kindness that Bella and the rest of our family have received.   We would be remiss if we didn't acknowledge the tremendous efforts that have been made over the past month to raise money for Bella's fund. These have included The Blue Ruin NYC Fundraiser, The Bella Tucker Fundraiser in Lynbrook, NY, The Chin up A-Thon, Bounce for Bella, lemonade stands, car washes, yard sales and hot dog stands throughout the community, all of which have been huge successes.

We also feel that two other fundraisers deserve a special acknowledgment.  Sarah Sullivan, a radio host from local station Frank FM, heard Bella's story and reached out to us. Frank FM subsequently set up a Radio-thon for Bella and Sarah poured her heart into the event. The Radio-thon was held at Mack's Apples on Mammoth Road in Londonderry, and the station -- and Sarah -- devoted the entire day to raising awareness for Bella.

Jason Weeden is a local resident who also heard about Bella's plight and took it upon himself to raise money for her, despite the fact that she was a stranger. He has created Bella wristbands to raise awareness and recently organized a "Ride for Bella" and gathered over 200 motorcyclists to participate in the event.  It was quite a sight, seeing the motorcycles in a line stretching over a mile long!

In summary, we are aware that Bella has a long road to recovery ahead, but at the same time, we are all so grateful for the love and support you have shown us.  We will try to send updates more often, and in the meantime, hug your kids tight.
